Any One In Cornwall?!? Or The Southwest?

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

Some of you may remember I posted a few pics of 'bubba'my plummer Patterdale cross a while back. Well he's about a year old now and all the action he's seen has been bushing rabbits for my lurchers which to be fair he's pretty good at, his eye site is not the best but his nose is excellent and he really hunts a rabbit scent like a beagle. He has been to ground chasing rabbits and seems really very keen.

However I don't have any permission to go after anything more than bunnies and would quite like to bring him along to a proper dig when the season starts, just so he can see another experienced dog at work, problem is where I live in mid Cornwall there are seemingly very few terrier men about. Well literally none that I have met/heard about.

I'm moderately young with plenty of enthusism and really keen to learn as much as I can! If you or anyone you know might be interested in taking a beginner along please let me know. I'm willing to travel!!

Many thanks!

LL

Appologies if this is in the wrong section

There's no need for a terrier to watch another terrier work, if it's in him it'll work without any experience what so ever.

Not my usual thing to enter them young but this is the same bitch I was talking about at just gone ten months old. Easy place in sand, the deepest mark I've ever had was four foot and with her blood

A big part of socialising is getting the pup out into the field and around the environment that it will be seeing in the future, and with that will come the sights, sounds and scents that will acclima

Thats a real nice Plummer/Patt and would be great back over a Plummer to give some lovely pups, there will be somebody near to you that will help you out, try getting out at your local shoot or hunt, there are always terrier lads not far away, good luck, WM

I'm not looking for a argument but just asking so I could have a pup rear it to 18 months or so good grub plenty of exorcise but never have it in the field take it out the once and expect it to work

Only absolute idiots would think it's ok to take a dog out at working age without it ever seeing a field and expect it to work.

My point exactly th so taking a pup to a dig is just part of its education

I've been known to drag fresh road kill around fields on a bit of rope laying a trail for a pup to hunt culminating in the pup going up a 9 inch drain to find it

i done that when i was 11 after watching where the red fern grows
