f**k the NHS off... its crap... give us back 8% or 10% of our tax contribution in our ass pocket and we can all pay for it..

In 2016/17 Health cost us £145 Billion, second only to social protection at £240 Billion.

That same year VAT revenues were £138 Billion, income tax was £182 Billion and National Insurance was £126 Billion.

I dare say by crossing off the NHS you'd have more than 8-10% to play with matey! :whistling: ;)

It was less than that (slightly more than a third actually) private for my whole family of 6 mate.

I have never had private health insurance so i have no idea how it works.

If you have health insurance, does it mean that you never have to use any of the NHS services?

You are meant to get referred by your GP but actually you don’t have to do that mate, you just phone the specialists secretary and make an appointment.

There is no A&E service as such because in the UK that’s already covered but over here it’s that same as the American system pretty much so there is A&E.

Private in the UK depends in part on the NHS infrastructure and systems. So even with BUPA or whatever you are only ever partially private.

I can tell you this though, a comprehensive health insurance policy in the US private healthcare system would cost me a shitload less than I effectively pay in tax in the UK socialist healthcare system. And FYI I'm not a 'high' earner...

PS there is of course an middle ground; all healthcare providers being private businesses but the government maintain a 'free at the point of care' funding for it through normal taxation. It'd force competition without actually forcing anybody to be responsible for their own healthcare.

I would advise everyone with very young children in the UK to get private for the kids NOW.......it’s so fecking cheap (less than a packet of fags a week!) and the difference in standard of care and response time is breathtaking !

It will literally blow your mind how much better it is !

I was being a touch conservative I suppose...

f**k it we’ll pay 5% tax across the board and pay for what we use regards health care... at the minute I’m in credit for a load as I can’t remember the last time I went to the doctors... the Mrs on the other hand owes a few quid, but after some of the shit we’ve put up with a compo claim should square that away lol

I have heard that European countries have various models of mixing private with public.

The trouble is the NHS is about the only thing the Left have anything that resembles national pride about, maybe it's the only substantial piece of semi-functioning socialism that exists here? So they guard it in a rather emotive and irrational manner. I mean there is even a socialist health association!

I can get private with work for about a fiver a month, not much more for full family cover. Just for me though I'm not arsed, I'm robust, LOL.

Get the cover while you are young and robust mate, you will get a better rate......if you wait it only gets more expensive for obvious reasons.

You are probably doing a fiver on skinny mocha choca lattes and advocado and watercress sandwich’s on rye every day ?

Saturday 27th an armed man attempted entry to a synagogue outside of San Diego, California. According to eyewitnesses he was armed with an "AR style assault rifle" and 3 people have been injured and one has been confirmed dead.
AR15's are illegal in California. The shooter was engaged by the synagogue's armed security which in this case was an off duty border patrol agent. The shooter fled the scene and gave himself up to LE.
The narrative of this story began as one of gun control but has quickly shifted to that of a hate crime now that more details have come to light. The article is from CNN but pretty factual with what's known at this time. The shooter has broken numerous laws and the bad guy with the gun was stopped by a good guy with a gun.

It's official. American socialist icon Bernie Sanders has officially declared that he's running for commander in chief in 2020. He's raised around $5.9 million from more than 220,000 donors in the first 24 hours, which has trumped even the Donald at this point. Many of those donors are set up for recurring donations that are set to net $600,000 a month.
Last time around there were allegations of hamstringing as despite Bernie's popularity with the American electorate as he conceded to Hillary Clinton despiting winning many of the primaries by a large margin. Looking at Hillary's disasterous performance in 2016 it'll be interesting to see whether Sanders remains an independent candidate or goes full Democrat as the group whittles itself down to a frontrunner.

      Hello,

I am a university student from Plymouth and I am conducting a research project with the aim of better understanding attitudes towards lynx in the UK, now that a reintroduction is seemingly ever more.

I believe that the attitudes of deer stalkers and hunters are important and will provide a valuable contribution to the study. I also believe that it is important that your views are represented as you are a stakeholder group who may be affected by future reintroduction.

If you could take the time to complete my survey I would be extremely grateful, it should take around 5 minutes. The data collected will be treated with the strictest of confidence.

It may be accessed using the link below:

      Thank you
