Names For Names Sake In Breeding

Looking through adverts ,you can't help but see the name dropping in pedigrees.

Now I'm all for knowing the breeding of a pup I am buying ,but when every name in the book is in there it does make you wonder.

wouldn't just a few of those names be better off repeated a few times than having 6 or 8 well known dogs in their history .

The most important are the Sire and Dam and the Pup in front of you .the way you raise and enter it the rest is all marketing and history.and a coin magnet

I don't know why people bother,most "legend dogs" are one offs and don't produce pups half as good as them.

aussie you are wrong of course they produce as in race horses pigions etc its genetics and if you get it right jobs done its plan to see through the lines of dogs that exist today

Nothing special anyway I had a bitch out of stag party/stag night she was pick of the litter bitch named honeymoon kept back by Phil himself she was cracking on rabbits and small things but didn't like anything that gave her abit back

That might be true in a purebred line,but in mongrel lurchers the chances of getting the same percent of each breed in the offspring is minimal,though I'd always get a pup off decent workers.
