In all honesty I'm not completely against a shutdown. If you can furlough 25% of government staff as 'non-essential' then it begs the question of why they're employed and being paid in the first place as they're on 100% taxpayer based salary. But that's another thread entirely. The method stank and we're still paying for the services through taxation only now we're not getting them.

Incidentally this shutdown does not effect the salaries of the politicians.

This is the crux of it. People will never agree on anything and those that agree on somethings won't always agree on everything. That's politics. It's your opinion that globalists keep f*ck*ng up the country but the majority of people keep voting for them in democratic elections. The whataboutists on this thread seem to forget that Obama was a democratically elected president too. So was George W Bush. So was Bill Clinton. Accept it or vote to change it. This is what is now playing out in real time.

Don was democratically elected in 2016. He's just had a referendum on his presidency and racked up massive losses. If this is a democracy and the will of the people why is he ignoring that and pursuing his own agenda? Why has he become what he swore to change and why is any criticism of him verbotten?

Agreed mate but this election time (November 2018) has seen Don dealt big losses at the polls. Huge! He lost the house by a massive margin. He's gone from full control of all branches of government in 2016 and has managed to piss off so many people in just 2 short years that they turned out in record breaking numbers to deny him that full control.

I do. Same as Don's election but the beauty of living in the freeish world is that I'm allowed to critique that also. Again for the record there isn't just Republicans and Democrats in America and their bipartisan nonsense is changing the way people are interacting with politics. A win for the Democrats isn't a win for a America by a long shot but if it curtails some of the current nonsense then it's the poison chalice we have to drink from until we find the right way.
