Ruptured Achilles' Tendon ........

Recommended Posts

Just as my work load triples and I get the bitch to peak fitness Tilly goes and ruptures her Achilles' tendon today.

It's very swollen so she has had an intramuscular jab of metacam and will be on metacam for the next week to try and get the swelling down.

On the plus side the tendon is still attached so there is some hope for a recovery which at best will take six months of total rest. I won't really know the full damage until next week when the swelling has gone down but if it's never going to heal properly then I will have a difficult descision to make.

She is a very hard fit bitch that has healed well from some bad knocks and injuries in the past so fingers crossed she can come back from this. It's a shame that her daughter is nowhere near ready to step up as she is way behind at this age compared to her mother.

Did you have it X Rayed? My vet told me my bitch done the same - Turned out it was a broken calcaneus bone

Way to swollen for an x ray ... she will be having one next week when the swelling has gone down .......
