They really are a rip off. My granddaughter 18 has bought a car on her own, and is paying for it herself. She is in collage but also has two jobs as well as the collage to pay for it. One of the conditions on her getting insurance is a tracker on the car. Most companies now heavily penalise them if the dive at night so we sourced a company that said they did not, because one of her jobs needs her to drive at night home from work.

 

They have a scheme where through the tracker they assess her driving, she accessed it tonight and she only had 4+ out of 10. When she looked at it she had 9+ for smoothness 10 for braking and 10 for speed, however when it came to the times of driving she had minus 3 which has pulled her score down to the 4+. It's a fecking rip off, we told them when getting the insurance that she works late and has no other way home. They told us it would not be a problem.

 

I am soooo fecking mad now that they can get away with it and there is feck all any one can do about it.

I've heard of quotes of thousands back in manchester. My eldest (23) has got a lease car which is all inclusive of insurances etc which sounds like a good deal and much cheaper than buying a banger and then insuring it.

Thats the problem, she did not buy a banger, she bought a 5 grand diesel and the insurance is over a grand. The problem is that they fecking lied and said there would not be any penalty for night time driving when there clearly is. We had cheaper quotes but went with them for that reason.

Was just talking to the wife and the actual wording is "your call may be recorded for quality and training purposes." Any odds that that particular call was not recorded?

I had just filled the feed back question on my insurance today and told them that they're ripping us off, the older we get and more ncd built up the cheaper it should get, not dearer

It should be but who knows, I tried something similar with my mortgage and got nowhere....however years later I got a nice cheque in the post since they had been shafting me ha ha. Let them know what you are going to do, don't get angry, see what they say. Then go to the ombudsman.

What is really pi$$ing me off is she drives every day like it was her test, to have all those excellent ratings for the rest of the criteria that proves no matter what time she is driving she is consistently a good driver. Then they are penalising her because she works late.

I now have a fleet policy, all my vans and trucks, any driver, all fully comp for £1800 a year, I just added a £30k brand new truck to it, cost me a full £17.50p for the year !

Now made the Mrs a director of my business, put her car on it, cost £10 for the new paperwork, that's it.

We will see? Even as an agent you have to be truthful with your advertising and sales pitch.

Pass plus is the way forward for young drivers. Can cut the price of insurance in half if your lucky.

 

Think it's about 150 quid but you can ring round and tell them you been quoted cheaper. Some will come down in price

 

My cousin did this and got his pass plus for 50 quid and was only out of home for 2 hours rather than the full day.

 

He didn't care as he only wanted the paper work and not the training..
