Accip74 7,112
I've never known anyone to destroy their career and family due to smoking weed, know a fair few do it through drink though I can genuinely look at three people in my phone who the last ten years have just passed by I could bore you with many drink or cocaine related misery stories, real desperate shite.............but I'm really struggling to think of one person that's fcuked their live's through a bit of weed, but I'm sure they do exist I suppose. I'm sure every one can with that my friend as it's ten a penny amongst weekend men but at least when they die people will remember them and nights out etc. Where as in my experiences , weed has made recluses of at least two of my friends, the other is so talented it's unbelievable , drawing, music, cars etc he should be a millionaire but instead he can barely be arsed to hold a semi skilled job Ok I'm going to bore you with one of those tales....haha Before I left the UK I was living in a little cul-de-sac by Manningtree station, I know you know where that is :-) Anyway I got new neighbours, a middle aged couple....the bloke was my mates uncle. Lovely people, but chronic alcoholics & couldn't work because of it........within the first week of moving in he was laying in the gutter on the street! There was numerous incidents over the coming months, then she died through drink. Then he fcuking lost plot. I had his family round mine to see if I could help etc etc, I tried, but you can only do so much..........to cut a long story short he drunk himself to death. All this happened within the year. Now while all that shit was going on I smoked weed most days. I worked everyday running a gang of 25 blokes, had great relationships with friends & family, I kept a hawk in top condition & had more permission than I could get round & was never ever a problem to people around me. I then moved to abroad, got work within a few weeks, hunted all round europe.....have a beautiful wife & kids & am still no bother to anyone around me!!!..haha. Not bad for a stone head, eh?

Silversnake 1,099
I am all for legalising but I have known a few to ruin their lives from smoking pot. I think if it were legal these people would have been able to manage their 'habit' better and life would be less difficult for them though. I do hope to find out if this is true one day as there is talk of decriminalising it here too.

walshie 2,804
Doctors manage to deal with drug seekers trying to get prescriptions for much harder drugs than cannabis, I'm sure they'll be able to sort out of the fakers from those in genuine need. Sorting in the same way they sort people genuinely unable to work from the terminally workshy?

Really? If I had a medical assessment for anything, I'd want a doctor to do it. If my car breaks down I take it to a mechanic, not a baker.

Yep really, they even like to ignore the recommendations given by the claimants GP who you'd think would know better than someone who spends a few minutes "assessing" them. There's a reason such a huge percentage of initial decisions are overturned on appeal.
low plains drifter 11,341
I f***ing hate the stuff , seen some very very intelligent lads turn into total mongs over years and years of useage As bad as drink in my eyes Two of the most talented people I know have turned into shuffling forgetful shadows of themselves with nearly twenty years of smoking it Tragic It's horrible garbage alright, seen first hand the misery that a cannabis addict can cause to themselves, family, and friends, smoke the herb my arse

Ecofibre is closing down its 300+ acre grow in the hunter valley in new south wales mate, the plants grown there are for medical experimentation (I have seen 300+ acres in morocco, thats a decent sized grow) and moving to the states due to restrictive legislation mate, they have opened a grow complex of 500 acres stateside with a view to expanding to 1200 acres next year, one of the backers recently gave 34 million US to Sydney university for medical cannabis research.
