A lot of gun shy dogs n bitches where off the rytex lines.nervous things .but me and my brother keeped a doomed bitch .that was excellent for ferreting .and even ratting on beck edges using ferrets.but if you where out looking for hares or fox she was no good .forever checking back .but we were young and didn't really bother us.

See I don't want a dog to hunt to far as I was it to push stuff out in front of the runners and I like to see what is going on at all times same with my terrier he would hunt on and follow a line but I don't allow him as if he followed a line and dropped in I wouldn't know where to find him.

Shame that is fella. Sounded like he was doing good for a youngster. You're doing right by the dog though if you haven't got time to get him out hunting every day.

Spaniels hunt pretty close from what I've seen mate. My bull X cocker will follow a line but can also call her off with a whistle. Pretty fascinating to see her spin round on the spot even when she's in full hunting mode.
