New Carp Record

I have heard a new record as been set 70 pound plus some fish and fair play but some are saying its a import so shouldn't count as a British record what's you're views on this

Perhaps because it was caught in Britain? To be honest I think that no stocked fish should count for a record

Carp have been imported to u.k. for centuries so not sure what dna would proove. But im sure just about every big u.k. carp is a known fish so a foreigner would stand out like a reggae band at a kkk convention

I bet it's got a name also... To me records should be set with truly wild fish only... I'm no fan of commercial type lakes and ponds it just feels like cheating and any victory as Columbo says is a hollow one. Theoretically if you have the money you can buy yourself a record... That ain't right imo.

Everyone seems to forget ALL carp are imported so if imports werent allowed then how could there be a british carp record?!

I see these big carp with names....taking up three quarter of every fishing mag and it just means nothing to me....like reading about a new night vision scope in a fieldsports mag...a passing interest for me nothing more....

 

Then you read the canal carp thread and you realised there is still real adventure fishing right on our door steps under our noses!

 

Each to there own. Maybe the 70lb carp will make a massive polish Christmas dinner !
