Labour Leadership Election

Online and television media show a clear and consistent bias against Corbyn, this is after the study last week that found that the print media is heavily biased against him too.

Measuring how much airtime and online coverage was focused on the embattled leader’s allies and opponents, the research found “a marked and persistent imbalance in favour of sources critical of Jeremy Corbyn, the issues that they sought to highlight, and the arguments they advanced.”

As Corbyn faced mass resignations, the report’s authors accused the mainstream media of “imbalanced reporting” that could affect the democratic process, finding the BBC’s flagship 6pm evening TV bulletins gave double the amount of airtime to Corbyn’s political enemies than those still backing him.

In contrast, it found the ITV evening news bulletins, and the BBC’s online news were “relatively balanced” in their reporting.

Now you know how UKIP feel!!!

I've never seen any studies showing there's clear bias against UKIP across the whole of the mainstream media? There's been two showing there is against Corbyn.

UKIP definitely get a battering by the liberal press but it is actually possible to find positive pieces on Farage and UKIP in the mainstream press and Farage and his supporters are generally brought on to defend their position without being totally misrepresented, a privilege the LSE found was rarely given to Corbyn and his backers. While UKIP is treated unfairly by some sections of the press some of the time Corbyn gets it from all sides all the time, UKIP even had two major papers endorse them at the last election.

OK....why is immigration good for the UK.....From where I'm sitting the only people who welcome it with open arms are either ethnics that hate the British way of life....OR owners of big business that

No party that supports mass unchecked, uncontrolled immigration can claim to be the party of the working man, regardless of all their claims. The people most affected negatively and the biggest lose

Imagine that turn out!!.......   "Oh Jezza oppress me you whitey pig"   "Oh Di, my trident is armed and it's about to go off like Joseph Staling in a room full of political prisoners"   "Jezza,

What's talking sense got to do with it if the media actively misrepresent what they've said or outright keep them off the air? If the media are truly biased it doesn't matter what's said it will either be twisted or just not reported on at all, something two separate studies have found happen consistently to Corbyn.

1,500 turn up to hear Corbyn speak in York, not a word on it in the national press. I can't imagine any other politician being able to rally that amount of people but if they did I reckon it'd be on the news don't you?

Ukip and Farage in particular rallied nearly 4 000 000 people to get off their arse and vote for them, only got them one mp.

Just if you want to talk about numbers and representation, coverage etc.

That's the electoral system, literally nothing to do with bias in the media which is what was being discussed

Out of interest how did you vote in the AV referendum, seeing as you're obviously so opposed to FPTP?

The socialist party not the SWP though they are more or less the same hard left wing group that welcome open borders and mass immigration.

So many radical hard leftists turned up to see Corbyn speak in Leeds this evening that he had to give two speeches, one inside and one to the folk outside who couldn't get in.

And here's a video of the event because I know you're all dying to watch it :D

One thing is puzzling me, out of all the photos of people attending to hear Corbyn speak I can only see one person of that looks Indian and one coloured woman, does he not appeal to the ethnic minorities?
