22lr for sure.

All I would like to add is please consider not shooting Charlie in the head. Not saying ever but rather than risk a busted jaw send one across the ribs, that way you have killed it for sure :-).

If you can hit a rabbit in the head your going to hit a fox. Why risk a fox chest shot with a .22lr and letting it run away wounded. Sure it will die but it will die slowly. A 40g sub to the head of a fox at 60 yards will drop it on the spot.

That is fine mate, just my opinion but please bear in mind, I have seen lots of rabbit shot in the head and some don't go down! Even with all the power of a 22!

I have and will shot a fox in the noggin but will always go for the ribs given a choice.

No difference as shooting a deer thus and stalkers of deer expect the deer to run, however they are rarely lost.

Absolutely mate. I'd only go for the ribs with a CF rifle. I personally use a .22-250 and always go for a frontal chest shots even with full metal jacket ammo. I've never had a runner, nor have ever witnessed a fox run after a .22lr to the head, but imagine id get a lot with a .22lr chest shot.

Try it if you get chance, if asked to guess on my experience (no not an expert) about 90% go straight down.

The longest run was over 100yds but most of the runners were 30ish yards.

They are dead just don't know it :-).
