That's looking amazing now Jimmy. Just as I like a stock to be. Not too light, but not too dark with rich browns in the tones. Lovely! To be honest, I think this may turn out better than the stock wa

Like the look of this restoring stocks, very tempted to try mine and I don't give a crap about dents and scratches as its a tool and I think marking them up is part and parcel of using one,and simon those memories that are being sanded away will become new ones that a new friend has helped make so not necessarily a bad thing, weird how sentimental we can be over such seemingly small things really, give it time and it'll have new memories to run your hands over!!

I'm thinking of doing exactly the opposite - I might put something in the background to see if it gets spotted ;):D Edited by Jonjon79

Just make sure your lass,s toys and under wear is not on show if you take a photo of you rifle in the bed room

or you will have Mark knocking on your door closely follow,d by VM :icon_eek::D:whistling:

Random the thing is with Simon he could probably tell you when every ding and scratch happened and what he shot that day that is how much he cherishes this rifle ,

Yes i do agree with you there are a tool and made for one thing only but you no your self when you jell with a rifle it becomes part of you and this rifle has been part of Simon for 18yrs that in its self is some thing to behold as we all know when times are tough the first thing that go.s is the rifles .

And Simon has not done this and that in its self is a credit to him .

Yes its easy to say , this rifle is a keeper ill not sell this , i my self have say,d this as you know a few times and ill say it a good few more i kid you not lol, just look at the raider out of all mine that one is the one i should of kept

But Simon has stuck to his word and it has never been up for sale

I just hope i can do him justice by this rifle stock

and make him fall in love with it all over again as he did when he first saw it standing on the gun rack in the rfd 18yrs ago

First coat of stain on this morning lads did not want to put it on thick so water,d it down as its water based any way

im going to build the stain up as she go,s as i dont want to cover the gold flecks up

as you can see the grain and some of the old pertina is still there .

Yes iv given her a new lease of life but i think some of her past has to stay in her

and at the end of the day that is what Simon wanted .

the photos make her look lighter than she is ,she will be left for a few hours now then the second coat will be put on

after a rub down with wire wool lightly rub,d down lol
