Great pics any pics of merlin's anyone ?

I got this earlier this year the first and so far last spot. I bumped into a birdwatcher the week before who said he had seen one in the same spot and it was his first sighting in 70 year so I guess they are not common I guess

Cheers I think it depends what area your in down my way pere's have only just stated to appear . Never seen merlin's and a hoppy a couple of times .

We have Merlin's here inland, plenty of Peregrines on the coast and inland. The Merlin prefers higher ground and a few years ago I did hear of one nesting in a dwarfed pine tree. A mate of mine flies Merlin's at skylarks he has a licence for so many a year. Very often when on the higher ground looking for skylarks wild Merlin will buzz his falconry one.

 

I have only heard of one unconfirmed sighting of a Hobby here, they just do not seem to like the west coast.
