If you really believe what you have just said you really need to think again mate. Not point scoring or trying to make you look silly but the truth is exactly the opposite of what you said. A good con

Nothing classes itself as an Alaunt. It's a stupid name that's been made up to market something.

Nice pup whitefeet...

I wonder how many lads have seen 1 of these in person? I've seen a few and everyone I saw was a hell of a dog, they are more of an Alano, Dogo Argentino type than a bull X grey as many believe. Photos don't do these dogs justice and there's a Faire few of them working boar in Europe...

We'll I've stayed in the borders for a year now, I just do a bit of moochin tbh I've been looking into getting a lurcher for a few years now so I'm always online looking at up coming litters etc and in the last year I've only seen one alaunt x bull/grey pup and a litter of bull x greys for sale in hawick and 2 alaunt crosses in person in galashiels who tbh probably never see a day's work considering the lads with the dogs looked like an absolute pair of junkies . When looking into the alaunt I've found a few snippets relating to the borders but mostly from a few years back.I could be wrong but I'm seeing the usage of bullmastiff being mentioned... Isn't their some alaunts carrying great Dane blood and American bulldog blood aswell ?

Some bullX are manny lol Deffo, I keep neither and probably never will tbh but I know a good half can do most jobs ,or at least the same jobs as an alaunt and a be a better runner or catch dog. I like aluants, a lot I'd have one if I needed a big dog that didn't have to run, but if I wanted a big powerful dog to do what ever I give it thn I'd go for a line bred halfX every time. Guys that do heavy lurcher work week in week put seem to keep more bullX than aluants and that speaks volumes to me

Think you hit the nail on the head saying the lads who do lurcher work keep the bull crosses.

The alaunt would not be used for general (or heavy) lurcher work from what I've seen. It's a more specialised dog and the 2 shouldn't really compare.

The all round bull cross would without a doubt leave the Alaunt wanting when faced with a variety of lurcher work tasks.

So what does the Alaunt specialise at that a decent bull cross couldn't do because for the life of me I can't see what adding a non working breed like a bull mastiff to a bull cross could possibly bring to the table.
Exactly, I good Bull X will have way more fire and heart than a Mastiff cross, it will get the job done quicker on things that bite back trust me. Edited by DogFox123

5 months old and 21tts 3/4 bull 1/4 grey he's gonna be taller than I thought I think

he should go taller , as mid/large size grow up to 10 months old(height), but looking at that pup carnt see any knuckle on there to grow out , legs look straight and finished, but could be wrong, as said got another 5 months to grow in height. the prob sometimes is the bull terrier genes come through which are not over tall dogs, not like greyhounds or bullmastiffs. and ive had both pits, bullmastiffs. and lurchers .
