I say fair play to the CMW.

It puts our sport on to the shelves of newsagents everywhere and I'll bet there's many's a child buys and reads it and that can only be good.

IMO anyone who's looking for graphic photos or stories of every last detail are not doing enough hunting.

The CMW is what it is.

its just about what got me into countrysports, seeing it in the local shop.it used to be a good read back pre-internet days when seeing a mink in a trap was pure porn for me and the odd fox snaring article was well worth reading 3 or 4 times!...when I was running about with my snares made from bike brake cable and carl brake line crimps :laugh:

I've always got this since nearly day one when it was the old shooting new but it's been getting worse and worse and the letters are that stupid they must be made up by the editor and staff now the p

Bloody kiddy fiddlers where's my torch an pitchfork.

Be careful using words like 'pseudo' on here mate, you'll start a lynch mob! Haha....

I like to read the CMW because it gives me a inside view about most country-sports in your country. A lot of the way country-sports were, have gone, but to me it still is an interesting read about these activities which are totally forbidden in my country. Hunting with dogs in any way other than retrieving e.d is totally forbidden, even the possession of the humble catapult is a Section One offence, let alone shooting a rabbit with it ....., using an air-rifle or a .410 shotgun on quarry is a no go area, a.s.o.

When I'm over in the UK I buy them, and I get sometimes backissues sent over from friends who had a subscription, I know a lot is crap, or old wine in new bottles, but it still keeps me connected !

Wish we had the situation locally which would justify having such type of magazine.....

Airgun magazines went the same way, when I started having a subscription to Airgun World in 1977 it opened a totally new world for me. When I stopped buying the magazine in the late 90's it was all gone, partly due the internet and the innovations were already done in the years before e.g. the rise of the pcp air rifle in the 80's

Some headcases tried to have newsagents to not only put country sports magazines on the top shelf but to stop stocking them completely....

And now, even worse, Mayfair, playboy and those old reliables are still on the top shelf and covered with a big white sticker!!

Used to subscribe to it when I lived in the u.k. then got the odd copy sent to me. I then heard there was an article written about The French Game Fair, so I had to get hold of a copy, anyway, contacted the countrymans weekly and they sent me a copy as a gift, kindly. Was pretty disgusted to read that the author of the article wrote the words that "digging to terriers is not yet banned in France"...... not yet banned, (or very very similar words). I can feel my hands tightening at just remembering reading the article by the article, I might have to dig it out and post on here. An anti attitude. :fool:
