I'd also see him the day before to let him know you're nearby and that you'll try to stay away from him.

If he does try to shoot hounds however while someone is nearby trying to stop them then the hunt should have the law on their side in that case.

Right, then he's probably anti or at least anti hunt on his land. Some farmers will tolerate some packs and not others.

Still, if he is reckless with his gun then the police are obliged to investigate and not just take his word for it.

Lads the comments on here make me wonder about some hunting people. It's his land and if was know that he was likely to shoot dogs like you say then no matter what way ye intended to go then the right precautions weren't taken. If the dogs are in an area and it's a possibility that they could run through that area then there should have been lads there to prevent it. Burning hay barns, burning tractors, killing his sheep...... Are ye for real? After reading that I definatly wouldn't let ye on my land! No wonder ground is closing up. It was yer fault ye let that happen. There are a few farmers like that around here and it's a given to avoid that area or have it well manned to stop hounds going near there. his land at the end of the day and he may be the biggest prick that ever stood in shoe leather but the man obviously has his agendas with lads in hunting and used worrying sheep as a loop hole to get away with doing a horrible thing. I keep hounds I know the score but f**k me I'd never resort to that thugary over a mistake I could have prevented.

Sorry Foxbolter, but I disagree with your posts.

The farmer in question doesn't represent most farmers but if you go about doing those things you say you could turn a whole community against hunting.

That's what's wrong nowadays. Years ago when we got caught where we shouldn't be we apologised. Sometimes the farmer turned around and said apology accepted, next time let me know.

Other times the farmer would get your number and maybe ring you in the future and ask you to get rid of vermin.

Nowadays when a farmer goes out to lads he doesn't know he gets told to f**k off or his haysheds will be burnt down.

IMO nearly every farmer that takes the law into his own hands does so because he has had trouble off scumbags in the past.

I would say that that's the case with Raynards case. Unfortunately they had to run into him.

Like I said if it was me I'd see that farmer next time to tell him you're in the area. You've nothing to loose by doing so and you usually catch more with honey than vinegar.

Also Foxbolter, it might be no harm to take down that post regarding the greyhounds. Lets face it, that's one of the most stupidest things I've ever heard and I've heard some crazy ones.

I can see that one quoted on an anti or farming web site.

Carry on boys hounds can run 7 8 9 10 miles away and still get to guys farm you won't stop them every time and the pack would probably be only 5 miles away 15 times of the year big worry throughout the season there we are they not my dogs and I need not worry where I hunt alway never a thought of that and by the way it's probably a personal thing with farmer and hunt and the farmer is laughing you f***ing clowns

Neil what would you do if your terrier bolted a fox and took pursuit but ran through ground with no permission which could easily happen and get shot would you phone the police or send us darling up there grow a pair for god sake there is no justice for what that farmer but he should be played at their own game amazes me men in the game that hasn't a pair of balls and say they do things by book at all times u r a joke
