I think everyone has a different opinion on what is called a hard terrier. Some will call a terrier that can kill fox to ground on a regular basis hard where others will say the dog just has a nack for

Mute dog would not keep it I like the sound of sounding under my feet to much most of what I come across is educated stuff and I dig them with bayer mixer types I have no need for hard dog just my opi

Have to disagree as some places can be layered maybe 3-4 different levels spread over a wide area and a fox moving about in front of a terrier will leave scent all over the place leaving it very hard

Fat head, i was admitted i was gone with the fairies when i give you that reply and was thinking of a biggish burrow i knew and a small bitch i lost over a year ago. On your question i remember another small girl and i took her down the bank. On My Own, she let go and i knew her quarry would be good, it bayed, it charge in her, and she made no sound, no interface, she pushed them to the bottom of the bank, dug to it in sand, single handed, tough quarry an id be digging one hole, and listening to a working terrier baying, I'd be the man to separate, as she be too hard boy, one of very many! I

I WOULD HAVE A BETTER CHANCE UNDERSTANDING MORSE CODE,LOL.
try going out with the man, I have and he's a diamond,a ruff one but a diamond all the same, I'll vouch for pabs,he's a doer not a talker atb AT

Lots of talk about the style of work a dog uses what about the owners there's a lot of men good at talking the talk but wouldn't be fit to dig their dog out of the ground unless they bring someone with them. We should start a thread on old unfit overweight chain smoking terriermen and what is the best diet and way to condition them for the coming season lol. We don't want dogs lost to ground or jacking because the owner is puffing and panting on top of the ground unable to get to his dog.

Spot on jiggy.we all know so called terriermen that are show ponies and in my eyes should be culls!!! They don't

deserve the good terriers they occasionally have.seen a good few honest dogs ruined by these so called self proclaimed terriermen?

The chain smoking, self fame and show crowd, i have a hard terrier, what's the breeding, are already shown their intentions now, and the out there breeding out for money to anything. With it comes their lies of digging, depths, speed.

How a fellow can say he's been out 1000s of times when he gets in and out of terriers regularly just shows that an inter-net forum can make anyone look like they know what they're talking about.

If a terrier is puling at an earth from 40 yards away it means scent is good, not that you have a super nosed dog.

Foxes can pop into an earth just in front of a pack of hounds and it might take them a while to get a correct mark if scent is bad.

JMHO but the way a lot of lads try their terriers they spend their whole lives passing game and don't even know it. Most terriers when brought to an average earth should find if it's holding. But to be 100% either way IMO the terrier should try the earth, not have a sniff from the end of a lead.

IMO the true test of a terriers nose is when you've already had a dig or maybe two or maybe three or maybe more in a big place and then run a terrier through it so you can walk away knowing it's now empty. How many lads do that nowadays ?

Regarding hard dogs ?

They're illegal.

The amount of shite you write on her and your telling me you think a terrier should run a earth to be certain r u serious

Yes I am, but I'm not to concerned about your opinion as I know who you dig with and thyat makes me take you with a big pinch of salt

I'm new here and i can't believe some of the things i have just read considering the law and controversy at the moment. i used to be on gamedog.com, but stopped in the end because of the amount of incriminating macho bull so called dogmen would come out with. i have owned many dogs people would call game / hard or whatever and while it can be a good trait i haven't been able to keep one with me very long. i like not having a dog i have to constantly treat for injuries or having to have breaksticks. i have learned a lot from this read though, just go careful guys
