Ps....always thought there were 15 in a rugby team, 2 players and it's over. LOL

there is but your scrum half is your link man and game maker ... he dictates the speed and direction of the game ... halfpenny was the kicker the man that generally scores the most points in a game ... so although there are 15 players in a team there some that are missed more than others .......

Kicking stats last season was Halfpenny 76% success rate with Dan Biggar getting 86% imo Halfpenny will not be missed as much as a lot of fans seem to fear. If anything I reckon our squad will be stronger for losing 2 key players but to think our World Cup is over is a bit defeatist imo.

30 seconds to go, 18 all and we have a penalty 5 yards in our own half, who would you want to take the kick? The problem with stats is they are just that, statistics, it does not tell you where the kicks were taken from or what distance they were. It only tells you the conversion rates. If a kicker is conservative with his kicking he can get a very high percentage, if on the other hand no matter the conditions he takes on every possible kick, it stands to reason he will have a lower conversion rate but probably kick more goals in the process.

Totally understand where your coming from Al, just saying that Biggar isn't a bad back up and can also kick quite long.

Remember RWC 2011 semi final and Halfpenny had a kick to win the match in exactly the scenerio you mentioned......the agony!! Not again please :)

an Englishman walks into a bar ..... there is normally a Welshman an Irishman and a Scotsman to but their still at the world cup .........

Unbiased punditry last night mind, man of the match on any other planet would've gone to Foley or Pocock but no good old Dallaglio and the other plank gave it to Launchbury.....and you all wonder why

Johnny I am not knocking Bigger in any shape of form. He is a good goal kicker, and not too shabby out of hand either, but he will often turn down kicks that 1/2p would take on and get. I agree with you about Liam, to be honest I think he should be full back with 1/2p as wing instead of Cuthbert, in fact I would rather see Tiperic as wing rather than Cuthbert.

Late news Eli Walker is also out with a pulled hamstring. FFS when is this going to end? Makes you wonder if all the pre world cup training is having an effect. Edited to add Ross Moriarty is in in his place.

I can't get revved up about the World cup. Rugby just isn't the same for me as it was back in the days when I played. That saying, i'll still be watching it. England really need to win the pool I feel. Coming second in this pool means playing the Boks in the quarters. I think thats the end of it for whoever finished second in pool A. If England win the pool and the quarter against Scotland/Samoa, it could be France or Ireland in the semi.

Could be another final for England if it all pans out.

As a seeker of truths and in order to establish some veracity of facts ,  yesterday I carried out a what’s app football questionnaire.
In order to maintain impartiality , I’ve awaited until the final results are in.... and it makes for interesting reading .
The conditions were set for a level playing field .reams of questions were filtered through however I decided on three questions alone to maintain ease of answer via the polling method of what’s app.
      1. Who in your opinion are the top 6 English football clubs regardless of league or current table position?
      2. Who would you say are the biggest English league side outwith big 6 ?
      3. Who is the bigger club Newcastle or Sunderland?
Answer in your opinion , no right or wrong .
Each question was asked individually, as in only when they Had responded to the first was the second sent and so on
the demographic was chosen with the following constraints
      1. No fans of either Sunderland or Newcastle were chosen to be questioned.
      2. I selected 20 people in order to make it a fair pool of people and to make % mathematics easier.
      3. All 20 lads are guys i have played football with or discussed football with at length.
      4. No members of the hunting life .
      5. 10 born and raised south of Birmingham . Including 2 welsh lads. 10 born north of Birmingham . Including 2 Scottish lads.
      6. All agreed to have the conversations and their findings included in the survey .
So with no further delay , is anyone interested in reading the results ?
Any ideas on how I could have set conditions to a fairer test?
