Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction in where I would find any old type game Irish staffs like the Dublin red strain lines/ Flynn lines / phsyco lines / any information would help as I am looking for one of the above thanks

 

just start with the show staff, find a athletic stafford, and go from there..

All is well for yous being on your guard .. but as someone mentioned phyco and his owner earlier in the post .Give him a call he will verify me no bother as will a lot of other strongdog men but best of luck with your search

There is still a faire bit of lads with them lines... The dublin red being the rarer 1 of the lot as there's not many about anymore!

Are Phyco lines now regarded as old lines ? The first time that I came across the term Irish Staff regarding a type of dog it meant a very small pit type suitable for introducing into working a terrier line without producing animals too big for underground work. The Irish dogs themselves being of terrier size and not because they had short legs. There used to be one advertised at stud mid 1980's in Shooting times that was 11" at the shoulder. They weren't from Ireland and the term Irish just seemed to come into use to describe an animal that was a different type from K.C. registered Staffords or imported American dogs. These tiny bulldogs may of entered into the bloodlines of the Patterdale terriers that the Americans embraced with open arms and open cheque books ? No idea if they still exist.

 

I know that Irish Stafford now refers to a type different of dog. Was Pycho not a K.C. Staff/English cross ? . My knowledge of the " modern " type is only from what I have read I admit, which means no knowledge at all. " Staffordshire Bull Terriers, English and Irish " by Shaun Barker is interesting and has photographs of some very healthy looking dogs. Massive though compared to the ones that used to be called Irish Staffs.

Irish SBTs ,,,was the name used for working SBT bloodlines from Ireland ,,, Psycho ,,,had 1/16 Bull terrier in him .. that cross with Bull terrier was done in early 1960s,,,
