Thanks WC.

Cracking dogs by the look of them.

Back in the Eighties/Nineties I had a Plummer cross Russell dog.

He was a good sized dog and very eager to please.

He wasn't the best worker in the world though he did do some decent work,

but eventually he got too hard by the time he was 5 or 6.

I think if I had him now I would have done things differently when entering him,

maybe held him back til he was 2 years old.

Cheers

Hello David, I've bred loads of Plummer crosses as far back as 1979 right up to present day, I've used Patts/fells/ russells etc in order to either increase general size and conformity or reduce it depending on what was needed at the time, back in the day getting a decent stud was very difficult due to the small number of "Plummer's" about, I once travelled down to his cottage in the early 80's for a mating and refused to use any of his "famous" studs as they were all too big for earthwork and that was all we did at the time, he sent me all over the country to lads that had his known stuff but to no avail, in the end I went to "Brian Nuttall" who let me use his best stud dog for free, the resulting litter were all good earth dogs and really tidied up the shape, shortening the back and increasing head size, it's funny really as "Brian Nuttall" and "Brian Plummer" were both complete opposites and I always found "Nutty" to be a warm friendly guy that would give you his last and its nice to hear he came out of hospital last week and is on the mend again after his heart bypass, here's a couple of pics of Plummer/Russells that I bred off "ROSIE" last year just for earthwork for a few lads that wanted them, she had a litter of 4 and I used a gamekeepers dog thats doing the job well, first pic is a dog, my mates lads and the other is a bitch that I ran on for 6 months for a lad, he has her now and she's doing well,WM
