Fastest Lurcher.

Recommended Posts

I agree with the lads who say speed aint everything, ive always liked a fast type, and still do. This bitch is like lightning, but thats about her only quality. Lol.

Im picking a pup up next week and for the first time (for me) it isnt gonna be a speed machine. But between them im sure i will have some fun.

In general the Whippet/Grey takes some beating for initial short bursts of speed, the fastest mutt ive owned that had early acceleration and endurance with real speed was a Lurcher to lurcher bred mutt

Fastest dog has to be anything with plenty of Greyhound or Whippet blood in them..also they are the fastest to run out of stamina and generally the fastest to either kill themselves or badly injure th

lurcher to lurcher with a lot of deerhound from sire.small bitch could turn hares uphill within 50 yards of the chase, second chase? put it back in the van no stamina.my pal now has her as a pet after a terrible injury with a treble wide hare who made her jump a double sheep fence (topped with barbed wire) .

Surprising how some dogs look very fast (smaller types) with all the movement ad fast action but when worked alongside something bigger you soon realise that real pace come from stride length just my experience. Been out with bed x whips and bed x grey and although the whippet x look faster you soon realise who catches the bunnies more ad I am talking about short runs as well atb good topic

I own a 1st x sal/g.hound thats a fast dog,hes been relatively successful in his years, his initial burst of speed is impressive and has shown some lung capacity at times when necessary..I like a dog tucked up fast and puting pressure on the quarry from the outset....Over here you need a fast type dog as some of the land is small enough,Im currently hoping to get another fast type dog this summer as he is almost 7 yrs old now,so anyone with a 1st x type from proven parents drop me a line, mind with all the pet passport and jabs and then the transportation back Im not sure it will be viable,..if I could find one on this side of the pond it would suit me a whole lot better.
