I've just got a harris that has a swollen ankle joint and it's warm to touch it's got correct perches and is in a clean environment now. Any ideas how to treat it successfully will be appreciated. I had one in the past come to me with it which I treated ok this one seems to be a bit more severe.

I would suggest take it to a decent avian vet to diagnose the problem.

good advice, internet vets are good on cheap advice and wrong more than right not worth the risk, make sure its an avian vet not a cat and dog man,atb mc

I won't deal with vets at all I had a real good coursing bitch do her stifle and the vet amputated her good leg and she had to be pts then and tried charging me for the surgery I ended up with a payout but still won't go near a vet now

I understand your concern mate.

Some vets arn't worth a toss, thats why I said go to a good vet that specialises in birds.

Not many about, but a good one is well worth a visit, especially for the sake of the hawk.

It's perked up in itself now after I did what I thought would be right and is putting it's weight on it and tucking the other up to sleep the swelling is still there but not as warm so infection is going. It could be weeks for it to look right but as long as infection is going with antibiotics ill be confident going to drop weight a bit next week and fitted up again
