yes its a nice knife! whoever gets it would not be disapointed.

 

although it looks plain and simple , there is alot of time involved ,you will struggle to find blades in the u/kfrom this steel its like rocking horse sh.t to get hold of ,as there is to my knowlege only one steelsupplier that had it ,in 4mmplate and i bought it

I would have liked it, but a house move means tightening the belt for a while so I must cut back on knives I have been buying !

 

What's the advantage of the 80crv2 steel, as I understand it is very strong ?

80crv2 is known for its tuffeness it is efectivly a tool /spring steel used on high end circular saw blades .

 

its a carbon steel , made by thyseenn krupp , ,made up of carbon , manganeese .cromium ,,vanadium and a feww bits and bobs .

 

it will temper harder than 01 /guage plate and retain its durability better .

 

its forerunner still used today not in u/k is a steel called 5160 superb carbon steel ..sadly unavailable in the u/k used in europe .along with 80crv2 ;

 

 

pre ,s 5160 was used extensivly on car leaf springs ..untill they found a cheaper alternative.
