Relum Tornado

Recommended Posts

Had one of these under levers .22`s as a kid .

I played around with it a little, it had a double main spring, which was changed to an airsporter spring heh! heh! if i remember rightly (long time ago) .

Had a kick like a mule and a right old "twang" to it  - at a guess it produced about 9 or 10 ft/lbs (i preferred my bsa meteor)

We would shoot rats with it on the local tip.

Memories - have fun bugg but don`t enter a competition with it - just remembered i used to pose with a 4x15 scope on it :toast:

The Relum Tornado .22 left a lasting impression on me when these tap-loading underlever rifles were new.....

My idiot of a cousin had one :hmm: . And when I was a youngster of about 10 years old, back in 1967 he accidentally shot me in the face with it! :icon_eek: Forgot it was :censored: loaded!

I still have the pellet in my left cheek 47 years later! One inch below my left eye. :whistling:

Thankfully it wasn't quite as powerful as the rifles of today.

About 30 years ago i made good money shooting rabbits off an infested caravan park over winter. I used a Relum Tornado with a improved spring. It wasnt the 'classiest' gun to use and far from the lightest but boy did it do the job. I bloody hated it at the time but looking back it was a crackin workhorse!

My wife insisted on me taking a work colleague of hers shooting on her parents farm once years ago. He turned up in all his DPM finest, regaling me with stories of training with his mates who were paras, his hunting exploits and his 'specialist tuned' air gun. I had my Venom tuned HW77 with AA Field, he pulled out his Relum Tornado with Milbro pellets!

Still makes me laugh!
