Andrew Russ 31
What parts of a pheasant can I feed to my ferret?? Quote Link to post
Tuzo 251
Any part that's got feathers on Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Ive just fed my lot a whole intact chicken, 2 and a half days, 6 ferrets and it looks like it was dipped in a piranha pond. All that was left was a skeleton with feet and the first few primary feathers. 1 Quote Link to post
Andrew Russ 31
So taking the wings off and giving them to my Jill would be Ok then?? As they are. Quote Link to post
Andrew Russ 31
Could the same be said for squirrel???? Minus the feathers... Quote Link to post
fieldsportsman 107
when i had ferrets, just used to chuck the whole thing in what ever the bird 1 Quote Link to post
Rustypippa 18
This time last year I had so many road kill pheasants it's a wonder my ferret didn't have gout! Sling them in as they are, mine would eat them from the head first Quote Link to post
Andrew Russ 31
I do intend to eat the bird myself. ( greedy I know) but want to give my Jill what I don't keep after prepping for the oven. So basically from what you have all posted I can give her everything I discard before cooking??? pie-eater 377
That's what I do on the rare occasion I lay my hands on a pheasant. Prepare the bird for yourself and chuck what you don't want the head wings and guts in to the ferrets. Quote Link to post

I long since gave up plucking pheasants so now all I do is rip open the skin on the breast, peel back both sides then cut out the breasts. They're for me and everything else goes into the ferret cage. I used to keep back the legs as well, but to be honest there's not that much meat on them so these days the ferrets get them as well. Joe1888 672
I just chuck a full one in.. Quote Link to post
The one 8,396
debreast them then the rest goes into the ferrets hardly worth plucking them to gain a pair of legs 2 Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
This works well, when it goes right. For those who share their pheasants... Quote Link to post
