Everyones different mate i beleive my dogs see enough time out of it. When they are in there they are pretty much resting. Its not hard to open the door and let dog have a mess around on garden or feilds that are practically joined to my garden

do any of yee think that its better to have a kennel/sleeping area but to have the run part without a roof so that it doesnt feel so

enclosed ?

and i know my dogs like lying in the sun,but im building new runs but dont know which way the dogs would prefer roof over run or not?

plus if the run is wet the dogs paws will be wet and then the bed will be too

I personally would give the dog somewhere to sun itself, not knocking your kennel though that is a solid construction

Can't beat the pallets, that's what I used inside my shed for partitioning, dogs bed, shelves, work bench an even ferret hutch haha. Safe to say your dogs won't be worrying bout the frost this winter lol. Cracking job atb

i think its important far a dog to see out even if its just watching a bird on a roof top while the dogs chilling in the sun, they will be hearing noises but not seeing what they coming from and having an open pen will allso aid ventalation, not knocking your pen pal just saying what i think are the very basic requirements for a dog

good effort mate, i like seeing these posts,am thinking about building one, playing with a few ideas as am i tight scotsman.

 

just an idea, try pick up some heras fencing, could use it for a run area, could be easy setup and put aside when needed.

with the sun ventilation and the ability to look around its probably best to have a weather proof shed but open run with steel fencing and no roof

My kennels are stables two / 3 kennels per stable and we have a massive run the dogs spend most there plus 2 walks a day

Personally I wouldn't have covered up those windows on your house,,,,made the sleeping boxes smaller than the window,,,and a mesh run...

Even if they are out for four hours a day mate they are still going to spend 20 hours a day looking at Woden walls .........

I too would have put some mesh in for the dogs to see out and for you to see in, I like the size of it but it looks more like a shed than a kennel. I'm not knocking your work or your set up, it's just my preference
