THE OLD LURCHER

She follows her master to the door

Sorry old girl you can't come anymore

She hears the car drive awaya

But home alone she must stay

 

 

Inside her heart is young

Longing for the job she once done

But now all she can do is dream

Of the rabbits she once chased down the beam

 

Her eyes have lost some of her glow

and her deadly pace has turned slow

Her lovely coat has turned to grey

And now she sleeps more and more each day
