G. i used to love watching his programs , i took my old man to his yard a few years ago , for a tour it was an interesting a couple of hours , its a shame we never made it when he was still alive as i bet the man had some cracking stories to tell , i think it was his passion for how things worked and how they were made and the way he got it across to the viewer ,which not many can do, that made him special. Although Guy Martin seems to have the same passion .Love that landy picture :thumbs:

I met one of his childhood friends and he was telling me some cracking tales about Fred, I could have sat there listening for hours but unfortunately had to get back to work. In Freds autobiography there's a bit about him making a boat out of old wheels and a tarpaulin and nearly drowning his mate in the ship canal when they were kids and that's the bloke I met.
