It does sound as if you were all having a "stab in the dark" and there is nothing wrong with that, provided you come out the other side having learnt something. From the posts I can see that most are disappointed, but at the same time upbeat because they have learned something.

 

Well done to you all I say, for having the courage to face the unknown rigours of boar hunting head on, and coming out with more knowledge that you went in with.

And a somewhat different approach. Let the dogs do the leg work, gps on them all and sit down and have a cuppa. Start running when the wee flashing blobs all stop moving at the same place lol.

Why waste your money,couple of farm dogs and some heavy bull xs would do it in uk,I would suggest ABs but try finding a decent temperment without health problems in one.

I agree. Although on the ground that we were running, I would go for a team of good, strong curs, the kind that can find and bail a pig. With a good bit of bone, and feet like iron. I'd worry less about speed, and more about durability, whilst still having the weight and power to stop / slow one down. In this country its a bit different. At least from where i've seen the boar.

Never mind the terrain or the fact that the majority of the team was green, the fact that there was so much other game around that was off limits must have made life a difficult.

 

If it was like shelling peas I can't imagine it'd be worth travelling across Europe for. Live, learn, regroup, adapt and try again.
