Cedric 132
Hi, can anyone give me a rough idea of the muzzle velocity of a HW97K .22 shooting Accupels 16gr. Uk setup, under 12ftp. I've been using one of those balistic calculators and didn't know what to input. Thanks. Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
If you have a chrono, then it's the velocity squared, times the pellet weight in grains, then divide by 450240 and that will give you the energy in ft-ibs. Eg... 560 fps X 560 fps X 16 then divide by 450240 gives you 11.144 ft-lbs. Edited March 19, 2014 by andyfr1968 2 Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
581fps would be 11.99 ftlb at 16gr Quote Link to post
barrywhite 282
and a lighter pellet will give you more power usually . Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Thanks for the info, if I work off 580 then I should not be far off . I've been trying to work out POA at close distances ( got some rabbits in my flower beds just under the window! ). I suppose I could just stick some targets at varrying distances and try them but I'm trying to drag myself into the 21st. century ! Skot - I see you have a 97K, do you think it's worth having it tuned, I only hunt with it. Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
If your alright with a spanner and screwdriver then get a few bits and bats.. aka some proper moly grease and some wet and dry 400 800 1200 and have a go on it yourself! like Marksman on here does on his 3 part video .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhuteSRhDhE part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op64so6v4vA part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbn0ehzkC40 part 3 If im 100 % honest my hw97 was nice when I got it but I followed this video and made it a lot better! I actually prefer it to my SFS tuned 98 !! this will deffo improve your gun and make it recoil less and shoot smoother. even just for hunting its worth doing 1 Quote Link to post
