ginge2k6 0
Alright lads, I wan't your opinions on this. I have two lurchers at the moment, a colliexwhippetxgrey and a colliexwhipet, the colliexwhippet looks like he will make a good ferreting dog but there is some rivalry beetween the two dogs and that has caused some problems during the first couple of outings. What i wan't to know is all you ferreters that prefer to net warrens and use lurchers to catch any unnetted bolters wether you prefer to work with one dog or a number of dogs. Personally I preferd working one dog last season enjoying the one man one dog bond you get if you know what I mean. what are your opinions on this. Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
IMO the rivalry will get worse if you work both together, there retreaving could suffer as well. Quote Link to post

Neal 1,930
Last season I worked my kelpie bitch on her tod and then did the same with the male at the tail end of the season. Last weekend I took both out together. I had no noticable problems but then they are used to bushing and general mooching together with no issues or retrieving problems. Having said that, the only reason for taking both out was due to them not being walked as much as they usually are during the previous week as a result of the new pup so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Although it seemed to go ok I doubt if I will repeat it as it just didn't seem right, not having that one to one feeling you get when it's just you, the dog and one or more ferrets, as you said above.
