Weirdest Breed/cross On The Lamp?

Recommended Posts

I remember reading an article years ago, I think it was in the countrymans weekly about a lad that was lamping with a Rottweiler, if my memory's right I think he had around 50 rabbits with it upto him writing the article.

The funniest dog I know of for lamping was a Dalmatian x Greyhound a fella had near me that was marked exactly like a Dalmatian but it had a good reputation locally on the lamp.

A lad we know from Wigan had one of them too, hard fecker it was but a bit sharp with other dogs in a motor I was told. Probably out the same litter??

I had a jack russell which I walked up the field one night with the lamp just for a clean and a fox shot into the brambles in a ditch..little fooker straight in and got it ..only thing it ever caught

I've seen a chihuahua/yorkie x whippet run on the lamp

I worked briefly with a gamekeeper back in the ,s who had lamped with a black patterdale ,, it was quite a big male,, and he had some success at rabbits,, this was not far from Newark

when I was lad , and in them days there were quite lot rabbits about to to what they are to day, we had staffs and heinz57s lol so that's what I used take out my walks. many time I would go out in winter from 10am and had to be back at 6-7pm for my tea,so had to take a torch withme a s it was dark at 4pm. The staffs we had back then were more like pits of today 15-20in 30-50 odd lb, one bitch we had was very fast+game she would tackle anything on4 legs, and most nights she did  .she caught few rabbits as in them days the rabbits didn't know what lamp or in my case what torch was lol, so she get on quite quick very clever bitch. always had her loose in the felds only had on the lead by houses incase of dogs lol . one day about dusk about 4pm our heinz57 he was ablike colliexterrier thing had grabbed a Billy somehow through some railings in this fence .the bitch staff was going feckin nuts trying to get at it, I put her on the lead and to the fence, the other dog had loosed it by time I found a way in the fence, thank god the bitch hadn't got there 1st you would never get her off, prob still be there now  this was about 1962 as they say the good old days ,well hunting at least
