How Much Exercise Should I Give My 3 Month Old Coliie Greyhound Pul

Recommended Posts

A couple of short session's per day... but to be fair i would not worry about exercise at that age..she will get all the exercise she need's during the socialising Recall/Stock Breaking and Retrieve training..

How much exercise should a 12 week pup be getting??? Lol. :hmm: let me think :hmm: road work, bike work...... :hmm: let them be pups ffs. They don't need muscle other than what they'll build up naturally. Start thinking about giving them a bit more exercise when they're 6 months +. Just take them walks with your other dogs or if its your only dog, an hour walk in the morning same in evening just at a nice pace with plenty to see and do. If that's too much, don't worry, just let it have fun with some basic trading thrown in. Training is most important at this age than any exercise.

I have a 3 month old coliie greyhound pup i was just wodering how much exercise should i be giveing her. I have herd it is bad if you give them to much but how much is to much thanks.

:hmm:A good working lurcher is an investment,..so there is no hurry to be doing too much,.. of anything...

Personaly,..I would allow the dog as much freedom to run and play, as is safe to do so,..and concentrate 100% on socialisation, socialisation,.socialisation.....

This is an all important attribute, in the 21st Century,.lots of things for a raw boned youngster to take in, understand,..appreciate and hopefully not be fearful of...Once a young canine feels comfortable and secure with everything around him,.the actual schooling bit,..ain't rocket science...so,.just get yourself out and about, and let the jukel run free and see the world..

Sounds a lot I'm sure, walk I take my dogs on is a track which takes about half an hour to walk round. Older dogs generally f**k off on scents, pups I've had just amble. It's not a race mate, I'm not talking flat out walking here  see that's the thing when you say something on here, it's hard to paint a picture. An hours walk is a lot of different things to different people, maybe I should have explained it better. Just get the pup out and about

mine is the exact same age. so far ive been walking her around an hour a day. sometimes split into 2 half hour walks. she tells me if its too far for her and we go back if shes whining or not happy. usually a pocket full of little treats helps her find her way home. we've been retreiving in the house, and then the garden. and we've graduated onto the field, she is bringing the ball back on the field and dropping it at my feet. after around 10 throws she gets bored so then we play something else.

Im doing basics, but trying to let her have as much fun as possible. she had a good play the other day with my neighbours patterdale, chasing each other on the field next to my house for about a half an hour until she was tired. Home, food then she went straight to sleep. I think trial and error to be honest. Any training you do, make it fun, and if she gets bored, move onto something else. My pup is exactly like my daughter was with her attention span  Mix it up, keep it fun, but dont worry too much at this stage, they're only babies, let them be just that.

:D must admit, I've always worried more about the type of hair the dogs trying to cough up than the hair on its ears  nothing worse than talking to plod and watching your dog wrenching :D

As said above take him out for social walks, country walks, let him see, and run around freely,RECALL,EVERYTIME HE COMES BACK TO YOU, MAKE A FUSS, OF

him, let him be a pup, explore all the different scents, of the woodlands, and bushes, and gradually, your walks will get a little longer, when your comfortable with that one and he is growing stronger, start him on retrieving, (((( IN the kitchen hallway, passageway, he will pick it up fast, and on your walks try him, Then your

pup has mastered Recall, and retrieving to hand, I remember once, I had a 3/4 grey1/4 beardie x He was only about 12 or 14 weeks old, on a wee walk around an old castle were I live, there was a fountain Pond WITH an island in the middle natural rock, I saw a Mallard fly off there, the pup who was running around loose,

saw me looking into this pond, next moment he took almighty run and leap, over the wee surronding wall, straight into the water, I was as much shocked as he was when he hit the Stinking water, about 3ft down fished him out, and a quick brisk walk back to the car, (((( I will Put a photo up of that pond and the pup,
