Before Locators?

in over 40 yrs of ferreting I've never seen a liner ferret used

what's the use following a piece of string

good old field craft, your ears

a good dog would always give a strong indication of the nearest point of the rabbit

and there was a lot of searching with the bar

the same as i have done on 90% of my ferreting trips.....use field craft set up nets silent downwind and use your loaf where you can ferret and cant...and a 6-8ft lenth of barbed wire has saved the day many times........ and as you have guessed i dont have a locator

its great to see a dog work along a set, moving with the rabbit waiting for a bolt........
