Loosely speaking there are two types of Irish greyhound. The track dogs are the same as English track dogs. Because most coursing here is "Park" coursing, the coursing hounds are usually a bit taller and bred to go fast in a straight line.

There is nothing to replace the English coursing greyhound which has been mostly lost since the ban. They were reckoned by many to be the best for lurcher breeding.
