Guest Ditch_Shitter
Jasper; Song Thrushes have vd. Brown speckling over a paler blue. And the nest is 'plastered' with smoothed, hardened mud
J Darcy 5,870
Yeah...get him told DS....... going back the the Ravens, i was very surprised to see this lined with so much wool. Guest Ditch_Shitter
Ditch all the Song Thrush eggs I've found have black specks over a pale blue. " vd Brown ". Term I picked up from a Master Taxidermist, mate. Means Very dark brown. Many may casually suggest a mink, eg. has " Black " eyes. Where as black is a total 'colour'. Real scrutiny revealing they're perhaps not as totally void of real colour. Granted, it's been decades since I've even seen a Song Thrushes egg. But are the markings truly solid black? If so, my apologies for misleading anyone from the distant memories of an old fart. Looking at my Guinness now; 'VDB', in truth. But most people would call it " Black ". Anyway, f*ck all this. I want my dinner! I'm off! Keep 'em coming, mate. I'm thoroughly enjoying just seeing them

And the nest is 'plastered' with smoothed, hardened mud I'm a real nob with eggs these days DS , I rememeber looking in nests when I was a kid and getting a few right but not many, the only time I got them right when I saw the mother get off , I was that bad I once mistook a Wrens nest for a Woodpeckers , I even went out brought as a kid "The Observers Book Of Bird Eggs" but it didn't help much ....
