Hi just got a saluki greyhound and want to train him for ferreting and for lamping but never trained a working dog before. Hes just over 1 and just starting to come back to me when I shout his name .can anyone give me some advice.

Just keep plugging away at retrieval n coming back to you,

I usual have a tennis ball rapped in rabbit fur for pups to play with or a skin,

If you can't get hold of any there's a lad sells um on eBay,

Let it see a few bolsters n see what happens

 

How good a dog gets is how much time you put into a dog pal but you'lle soon no if dog is up for it or not!!!!

I run salukies mate good all rounders if ya take ya time recall first mate they soon chuck a deff,un retrieving a must one off mine at mo won't retrieve the uther live to hand they deadly on lamp stamina to run all night and will take out put they can test ya mate my advice just take ya time atb

patience an time pal dont run before you can walk ,pups are hard work, a like to choose a exercise ie jumping retrieving ect and consentrate on that till the dogs confident about what your asking it to do then focus on the next command, hold him off your first bolter watch how keen he is then make your own mind up weather you think hes ready.. atb
