Once you have the relevent licenses can you just go out as and when you like or do the authorities need to be informed of your hunts and do they turn up unannounced to check that you are following the rules?

 

Once we have the relevant licenses, we can hunt during the open season without anymore problem. Just to be agreed with land's owner.

At the end of the season, each Master must informe how many badgers catched (sex ratio, age ratio).

The Irish and English politicians must be a sleep how come they never looked at this set up as a form of pest control.

That's because the only thing our politicians were shown were videos of badgers being baited and killed by half a dozen dogs, suffering painful deaths. These video nasties made by these people which appeared all over our televisions were the final nail in the coffin for the decent law abiding terrierman. Any one walking our countryside with spade an terrier is classed as one of one of the above.

Since Middle Ages (813), Governement recruits some hunters to be lieutenant de louveterie. In 2017, we are more than one thousand. We are able to do the job when State want to organize a cull (wild boar, badger, fox, deer, cat... and sometimes wolf).

Most of the time, concerning fox or badger, a local team is asked to control. It's the best way.

For railway or airport, some diggers or hunters are professionnal.But very few.

Thats the way it should be Blaise, unfortunately the minority f****d it up for the majority of us over here, and it should have been properly licensed in 1973, and like in France heavy penalties should have been given for unlicensed hunters, but hindsight a great thing.
