Hob Vasectomy

Recommended Posts

Left mine in the morning and collected in the late afternnon. One vets says keep him away from a jill for 6 weeks another 3 weeks but being impatient me i put him with my jills after two weeks and everything was fine. Brought them out of sesason and no kits were born. He thinks he's a male ferret porn star as he has done 12 jils and counting.

One little warning

A mate of mine had his hob done after the 6 weeks he put his gills with him

result was 54 kits the vet had screwed up .

She offered to euthanize the litters and re-do the op.free

I would just put 1 gill with him for a while after the required time

just in case

I would go along with the time the Vet gave you, to reintroduce him to the Jills, just in case, better having a bit of patience. it appears by other posts on this subject, if it doesn't work the Vets will operate again for free, good advice only putting him in with One Jill, just in case.

I dropped my ferret off at 9 picked him up at 3. Waited the full 6 weeks before putting him in with my jills. All four look pregnant with fur loss and weight gain but Im assuming this is phantom pregnancy.

You will feel the Kits around week 4 of pregnancy, with a Phantom it is hormonal and obviously there are no Kits to feel. I have a Castrated male (no nuts) been told by several in another thread on here, he won't want to mate.....nobody's told him though. I was advised a castrated male, done at two years old and one which has mated a few times before. With castration there can be no mistakes, but don't know about an unmated youngster. I have seen a rescued castrated Mongrel Dog used on a female before. This was done before she was 'started' without the risk of Pups, so she wouldn't fire into a male when she was mated. They went through the whole process without any mess or any tie. The point is, the Dog went through the licking, dancing, pawing and mounting processes, he had no nuts either.

Yeah Its been just over 4 weeks and I cant feel any kits so Im hoping its just phantom. How recently was your hob castrated? I wonder if he still has some testosterone left in his system which is giving him the urge.

thanks for the replies. to update I dropped him off at 9, got a call from the vet about 12 saying that he has got a disfigured penis...... resulting in him being sterile, and no need for an operation. which would explain why he didn't father any young last year. So the vets didn't do anything and also didn't charge anything either, so good day for my wallet and no op so good day for the ferret!
