Canary Seed Insects

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was after some Canary conditioning seed last week. It was surprisingly difficult to get hold of, I had to try several pet shops and stalls. Evenually I found a shop that stocked it, as a twenty kilo bag. That was far more than I needed but the shopkeeper agreed to split it if I took six kilos. That was still alot for me but I said yes. It seemed okay when I bought it and I split it between an empty Christmas sweet tin and a snap-top plastic bucket for storage.

Today it was full of little insects. Both containers of conditioning seed were the same. The insects are small and look a bit like mites. The shop does not sell any livestock and I have kept both containers sealed. Has anyone had a similar experience?

bin it mate you dont want to introduce any type of mites into your bird room

if your struggling getting conditioning seed dont worry

as long as you feed a decent canary seed and now the weathers changing

throw some dandilions in and other types of seed heads they'll be alright
