Elmer_Fudd 28
Well it kept my attention buddy good read and pretty funny in parts... nice work mate! Elliott 436
Nice write up Mawders, I also like FAP pellets but have found they can be affected quite badly by the wind. On a calm day however you would struggle to beat them. Made by JSB and also branded JSB RS I've been pestering VerminhuntersTV to do a pellet prep video for those of us who are intrigued by such things Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Thanks for the comments guys, I know it's not the most entertaining of subjects but worth trying if your bored and have access to some scales. Can't wait to see how these perform down my 95. Thanks for the heads up on the pellets and wind Elliott. Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
My mate has done it all, he reckons pellet sizing is best. He gets his rapid shooting one hole groups all the time, and fps is down ridiculous amounts. He's washed lubed and weighed , he reckons that is more effective. Personally Aslong as I'm using a consistent pellet, and zero is spot on I shoot away Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Good post Mawders buddy, and I loved reading your blog. I know what you mean about the excitement of picking up a new rifle tuned by Tony. I love the look of your 95 with the scope fitted. It looks like the Panorama compliments the rifle very well. Reading your pellet weighing bit I have to agree with you pal. When I weigh my pellets for HFT I put them into different pots as per weight and use the ones that are obviously all the same weight as my Chair Gun data was produced on. A difference of just 0.1 or 0.2 of a grain cant really be snuffed at as your data that you enter into Chair Gun isn't as accurate as just a 0.1 or 0.2 of a grain can be worked out at. The problem arisers when you try and fire a deformed pellet or a pellet that is 0.5 to 1 grain different from the others as I had on Sunday when at a friendly HFT shoot and had to fire the pellet into the ground as it almost fell out the barrel. This one was straight from the tin. I find that over normal sub 12 ranges, 20 to 35 yards a pellet from a tin is quite usable without washing or lubing or weighing and will hit a 3/4 inch target pretty regularly. Its the longer ranges where you see the differences as not only do you see pellet weight difference, you also see errors more in your own shooting which really does open up your groups. At the longer ranges this is where pellet weight and size as a bigger effect on pellet density which in turn as the biggest effect of all on group size and accurate shooting which is pellet ballistic coefficient (BC). This is where you need all your pellets at the same weight and the same size. A pellet with a higher BC will not drop off as quick as a pellet with a lower BC. So in turn 2 or more pellets BC equals a shift in POI. Si. Edited December 6, 2012 by zini Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Thanks Si mate, Some interesting points you have raised and confirmed my suspiciouns with it not really mattering if the pellet weight is .1 of a difference. I can also see the benefits of washing and lubing for extreme ranges as I have read a few good articles stating the same. It's certainly all food for thought after the new year when I try some hft. Cheers Phil Quote Link to post

I'm just using it as a practice day really and trying myself out against the .22 springer pro's in the series. By all accounts there are some crack .22 shots in the series. I will be shooting it properly next year with Davy and Charlie and the rest of the lads that attend it with my new toy . The address is 09/12/12 - Cambridge HFT - SG8 6QD Si. milegajo 595
Nice write up Mawders. I love the way peering at a digital display, pawing at small objects, mumbling to yourself then arranging the bits into neat lines can get your partner concerned for your mental wellbeing.... I just do it for attention on a friday night now. Quote Link to post
