Scottydog 0
Im in the process of looking for a 12g shotgun. I do not want to spend a fortune and it will have to be versatile whatever it is. It will be used for a bit of walked up shooting and clays every now and again when out of season. Don't want to end up buying something that will be replaced after a short amount of time. Any advice please. Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 493
What is your budget?. You want a semi, s/s or a o/u?. Quote Link to post
remi700 99
Check out guntrader. Lots of good guns sold on it everyday. I'd defiantly say you better to go with a good second hand gun then buy a new cheaper gun. Old Miroku possibly if your thinking over and under older berettas also worth a look. If your thinking auto Fabarm, Remington, Browning Beretta all worth a look. Atb Mark Quote Link to post
Scottydog 0
O/ U is probably my gun of choice. I have access to good advice from my father who has spent a lot of time downing clays in the DTL discipline. His guns are pretty specialist and have never been carried over a wet and boggy field in their life. he has suggested a Miroku Grade 5 (tells me they hold their brass) which probably is a good bet if you have the money to spend on one even at 2nd had prices. Realistically I'm looking at around 5-600 quid max. Lanber and Bettinsolli spring to mind but would I be better buying an older Beretta, Miroku or Browning. If rough shooting and doing sporting clays what would you buy? Quote Link to post
wilbert 6
If you doing some rough shooting dont bother with the fancy wood on a grade 5 gun as it is bound to get scratched and get some small dings and beside you budget wouldn't cover the price of 1. Get a lower grade stock and spend a few hrs stripping and re oiling the stock making it look much better. After the game season is over I will be doing the same to the stocks on my shotguns. You cant go wrong with a Miroku O/U. Great value for money and built on a good proven action. Why pay the extra for a Browning when the Miroku is basicly the same only cheaper. Quote Link to post
Scottydog 0
Well Ive done the deed and bought the gun. I ended up buying a Browning B325 which I am told will last me a lifetime if I look after it well.Pick it up at the end of the week. I've had to put a thicker recoil pad on it as the stock was a little short and being a big lad I was crowding the stock end of the gun (so I'm told) Looking forward to its first outing over the new year period. Do any of you guys use the Running Hill Clay Shoot up near Diggle? Quote Link to post
