cut tendons, any advice lads

My wee bitch managed to cut through her tendons at the wrist of her front leg 5 weeks ago, the vet had it strapped up with a splint for 3 weeks then a heavy dressing for a week, now the dressing is off im just wondering if anyones had a similar injury and any advice regarding getting her back running, i dont plan running her this season so time is no problem, the wrist is still quite sore and stiff yet

keep it on lead for next 5 weeks , the vet pinned my mate dog's leg so it would not stretch the tendon and it was pinned up for 8 weeks!

just think on lead wont do any harm, !

My old bitch done it first week in September last year and she's never been the same, she got plenty recovery time, never ran her till Late January/early February and even now walks with a slight limp, runs absolutely fine but is sore the next day for a day or two, mind she's 8 and age has probably played a small hand in it.

Mine did it on glass when he was 18 month, no work for nearly a year, he's tip top now, all be it with a slightly kicked forward foot from the wrist, neither heavy work or cold etc bother him.. Hope yours comes as good, I was on the verge of pts when it happened but glad I gave it/him a chance..

Tendons can take at least 3 months to heal. Get the dog to a good greyhound vet for a check up, and pray that your normal vet knew what they were doing.

forget working it for ages if you dont get this right the dog will be not 100 percent again

Cheers folks she will get plenty rest, shes nearly 7 now so her best days are behind her, vet said they stitched inside the wound as well as outside so im assuming they rejoined the tendons, theres a bit of a lump on her knuckle just now and shes still holding her foot up, i'll just have to wait and see
