RAMCAM 4
I always hold the butt under my arm and hold onto the barrel or underlever whilst loading my pellets. This poor bloke lost the tip of his thumb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR-A0k6tWsQ Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,584
I got shot in the face by a .22 Relum Tornado underlever courtesy of my idiot cousin when I was about ten years old. The old story; "I didn't think it was loaded!!" Still got the pellet lodged in my left cheek just an inch under my eye! Never forgot how much blood your face can pump! Didn't put me off shooting though. But it has made me very aware how easy it is to let your guard slip Pianoman Edit to add. I was talking to Jim Hogan the other day at Red Beck shooting supplies and he showed me his thumb that had been partly severed and split in half by an un-bear trapped HW77 breach block slamming back as he was loading it. He touched off the safety and caught the trigger... WHACK! Luckily, the surgeon managed to sew back the other half and rebuild the thumb. But it has next to no feeling and restricted movement. The pain and shock made him faint but the look on his face when he was explaining it, said everything! NEVER TAKE YOU EYES OFF YOUR SPRING RIFLE WHEN LOADING AND ALWAYS HOLD THE BARREL/LEVER FIRMLY. Roy Williamson 15
I always hold the lever on an under/side lever gun, but i must be honest, I dont usually hold the barrel on my break barrel, Think I will make sure I do all the time now. I may not get a trapped finger, but good chance of a barrel in the face and a knackered barrel. Quote Link to post

I was terrified of the piston on my 97k when i first had it but the the video shows you have to be careful when loading break barrels aswell. Quote Link to post
