Recommended Posts

still young at 7 months mate wait till the dog as matured a bit more you have loads of time it is not a race to enter it let the dog see other dogs working but i would be letting it start work at 10/12 months on the bunnies with the ferrets atb

kinda awkward age for finding green bunnies this year, although every dog is different and mature physically and mentally at various ages i'm one of the cautious kind having seen a few spoiled pups entered too early, one of mines was a similar age last year and i gave her a few nights after the new year, just a run or two trying to get a wee bit of early success, i upped her workrate as the young bunnies hit the ground in the springtime, in my experience if you can find an outbreak of mixy in the next few months your pup will get bags of experience and confidence in a relatively short time

does anybody know what age is best for me to start working my saluki whippet hes 7 month old and is he best watching another dog thanks

im not big into the watching another dog lark, causes too much excitement in a pup, dog dont need to be trained to chase, he needs to be focused on you, how ya do that while another mutt is running round is beyond me,

the biggest recommendation i would look for in a pup starting is that he believes the sun shines out of your ass, everything will fall into place after that, the age thing wouldn't be my major concern, the relationship is more important, too many mutts on here wont come back when lamp's knocked off etc, get the bond right first and it knocks a lot of possible problems out before they start, because they just dont crop up, best of luck with him,
