Do dogs get nettle stings

Been out ferreting today still too early but was keen to av a go but my whippet chased one that got away in to a load of nettles just wondering if they get stung like us. ?

nettles can cause a reaction in the feet and underside of some dogs, normally you will see them chewing away at them when they get home. antihistamines work well

lol i wouldnt worry about nettle stings bud, itll get a lot worse than that in its working life

yes they do! mine dont settle for a few hours after being in nettles but they dont bother at the time of being stung

hell yeah!!!!!!!! . saw a russell once go into shock from nettle stings. we thought he had been biten by an adder. all the other dogs were ok and had been working the same cover. i bet your whippet was icthing a bit in the night. great looking dogs mate. atb raw

Mine sure do they go daft when there feet get nettled my beddy bitch gets a horrible red rash when they get her.

my terrier does a breakdance routine when we get home from ferreting. 1/2 a piriton tablet sorts him out if he gets too bad.

The smaller nettles that you see coming through in spring are far worse IMO, they make me jump about so its no wonder the dog cant settle when i get home, dont think they are as bad this time of year though, Whippets have fine coats so could suffer badly, buster.

My lab does my head in with them.

But it's only in spring time.

Yep. When my dog was about 5 months he stood on some nettles and went mental.

 

I had to take him to the vets as he was so bad. He was jumping around, screeching in pain and biting his feet.

 

Cost me £45 as he needed an antihystamine injection and another one to calm him down.

 

He's never been that bad since

mines hates them would rather face a tangle of brambles only really goes through them if she's certain theres something there

dab there feet with vinegar and give them a antihistamines pill

Ill try that with the vinegar Bigears,my staff goes daft after crashing nettles,chewing her feet and rubbing her belly on the floor,my border doesnt seem affected by them,apart from licking his balls more than usual allways the balls......
