how are your computer skills mate ? if you could get a web site up and running and advertise it at every turn and chance , also if you could get some small posters made up and send them with every sold knife and ask that they are placed up some where suitable ? just thinking out loud here so please feel free to shoot me down in flames lol

do you advertise on any other hunting , bush craft etc web sites ?

could get a little sig banner made and ask the members who purchased from you to use it on other forums and display it to all

im off facebook now i had one for the dogs but came to nothing , i did adverise on british blades but got in to an argument with the owner this week ! so cant or wont advertise there anymore (no big deal )

if i could show you the number pms i get and answer a day you would not beleave it , i dont think i would get anything done if i was on more websites .

the way i see it you guys are my advert and the stuff you buy !

iv given this a ton of thought , iv never owned a custom knife never anything forged or pattern welded by a human , never in my life , iv allways wanted to but no gifts nothing of that nature , i reckon you guys are lucky to be able to get the stuff me and alot of other makers are offering , thats not a big headed thing its just that i would never afford it in the past and it was not really on offer !!

im hoping that at some point when you have used them enough someone is gonna work out that my knives are sharp, stay sharp and you can get an edge again really easy , from all the production knives iv owned iv allways had to re-grind them to get an edge i was happy with and all ways been shy to use them because i knew the edge would dull fast , i hope what iv sold is leauges above thats i know the ones i own and use are to my taste , i test the hell out of them and have never been so abusive to blades as i am my own !

im so new on the "scene" and i dont want to operate like alot of the other makers do " im a god kneel beneath me" i promise you guys all the things you are suggesting will happen , websites , shop sales etc its all just round the corner , but before then i just need to keep going as i am . iv made hundreds of blanks and knives now but i need the experiance of thousands before i can boast to much .

behind the scenes here this is 24 hours a day 7 days a week , there is so much investment of time money and mine and the mrs relationship to get this right . that it will happen .

i owe you all a massive thank you and you have no idea how important you guys are to my future , its your support , intrest and investment in me and what i make that is letting this go forward .

two years ago i had a BBQ forge running on charcoal with a lump or rail track as an anvil and a hand held drill everything else was done but hand , now 2 years on , i have milling machines drills , grinders anvils a few forges you name it , thats from you guys !! im just short of a power hammer and a serface grinder and id be made !

i really do beleave in word of mouth so it you guys can keep buying showing off and using the blades we are all good .

il be honest i put alot into the last group i put up , and the take up was a little slow but they have almost gone now so it was a moment of panic :)

anything you guys can do like the above suggestions would be great , im not very good with computer but did build a website for my stone work business before it went tits up , the style of website i want will take a proffesional i think and im happy to pay for that service , id like some interaction with the buys to so maybe a chat room or something like that on the side of it would be great to .

thank you all again for you support and lets hope im round for many years to come !!all the best , mat

yeah will do one time , there is nothing to impressive , i sell all the nice ones !

im in the prosess of making myself something very nice , its a damascus knife , made with 5 bars of 10 carbon 10 nickel steel , i have a straigh laminate on the spine then 3 twisted bars all in the oposite direction of twist to the next then a straight laminate bar for the cutting edge , its going to have alluminium guard buffalo spacer the samba stag roll with another buffalo spacer and an alluminium pumel . nice sheath to i hope , i might do some stigray inlay panels in the sheath to , its years since i made anything with exotic leather .

i need something to show my work off rather than a picture ! and this one came up so its a keep as it will never sell at its value so i may as well enjoy it .

Just a quick word for Matt as so far i have not commented but i have a couple of Matt's knifes but also i have been down to work with forge myself with the help of Matt.

First of all, the pricing Matt's offering is increadible, Matt must be working at near minimum wage or below for the time that has gone into his work! I have been down and seen about half the process so far and its dirty, hot and heavy going work that requires a great deal of dedication to get right as well as an unreal amount of skill. I struggled but ill tell you what i look at things differently now. These aren't pressed steel mass produced rubbish, they are a totally custom product.

I can't thank Matt enough for the oppurtunity to have a go and you couldn't meet a more pleasant guy with a great deal of patience. I'm still rubbish but hopefully i will end up with something decent when i go down to finish my two knifes. Hopefully we will get there.

Honestly lads, fill your boots these will last for years, Matt doesn't sell crap!

Keep at it mate the recognition will come.

Liam

Matt I have bought several of your knives from a long time back till now . And I have to say all have been quality been used at work and in the field as it where and some that will never be used as they are far to nice .. :) some from a fiver some in the hundreds and I have to say there have been times when you set the price and I feel like I have robbed you ...! For the quality product that you have been making hope you keep at it. If you could widen the market you could set a more realistic price for your time. All the best steve .

Been busy with other things so not made a knife for a while. There is a KITH over on EM and the challenge was to make a Puukko form recycled materials....right up my street.
Blade ground form a HSS industrial planer blade. Handle is stacked from recycled brass, copper, stainless and filled in with denim Micarta. All cast onto the handle in a oner then ground to shape.
