The Coursing Crew show report for the Midland Game fair.

The weather was on our side all weekend, the turnout was high and the standard of dogs that went through the rings and over the start and finish line during the weekend.

As always we began the days events with the field events

Simulated coursing the champion of which was Mrs Rodgerson's "BARLEY" with Mr and Mrs Browns " BRYN" as reserve.

The hurdles champion was S Thomas's "GEORGE" with Mrs Rodgerson's "JIGSAW" reserve.

In the straight racing The Lou Fowler Memorial under 21" was won by C Weavers "GERT" with S Thomas's "PEBBLES" coming reserve, 23"

Under 1st H Hulland "LYRIC", 2nd P Fowler's "WALTER" and 3rd C Masters "LF JIMMY",

Over 23 " 1st P Slater's "CRACKER", 2nd R Hollier's "ZOOMA" and 3rd N Browns "TANK",

Puppy racing 1st M Merrin's "DAPPY", 2nd Mr Brown's "EVE", 3rd A Taylor's "FERN"

Whippet racing 1st K Mallon's "STIG, 2nd J Payne's "PIPPA", 3rd B Ridgeway's "BRIN",

Terrier racing 1st A Well's "ZAC", 2nd D Hurst's "CHESTER", 3rd I Fisher's "GYP",

The Open lurcher show began at 10am with 3 seperate rings, our lurcher judges were, A Pritchard from Shropshire, S Doble from Somerset and A Wilde from Middlesex,

Lurcher Puppy Champion was E Brown's "EVE" with A Perry's "DANAN" reserve

The lurcher champion was C Bryce's "ROXY" and reserve A Wood's "FREYA",

The afternoons Countryman's Weekly Champion of Champion saw J Whiteman from Sussex and D Davis fromShropshire Officiating for the lurchers,

The title of Countryman's Weekly Champion of Champions 2012 went to L Flatman's "KIZZY", Reserve was V Grocock's "LOGAN",3rd R Powell "BELLE", 4th C Raybold's "FERN"

Sunday morning again started with the field events

Simulated Coursing again Mrs Rodgerson "BARLEY" was champion with M Hill's "DILLON" taking the reserve

Hurdles Champion S Thomas's "GEORGE" and Mrs Rodgerson's "JIGSAW" did it again taking champion and reserve the same as saturday

Under 21" charity race 1st M Hill's "MOLLY" 2nd C Weavers "GERT", 3rd S Thomas's "PEBBLES"

23" and under 1st C Masters "LF JIMMY" 2nd I Fisher's "TEX", 3rd A Wildes "KURBIE"

Overs 1st P Slater's "CRACKER", 2nd S Thomas's "GEORGE", 3rd R Hardy's "DAISY",

Puppy racing 1st M Merrin's "DAPPY",

Terrier racing 1st B Cooper's "BEN", 2nd E Keeping's "BERT", 3rd C Baker's "ROOK",

This years COUNTRYMAN CHALLENGE TROPHY was awarded to C Master's "LF JIMMY" and Reserve P Slater's "CRACKER",

The Open Terrier show began at 10 am with judges G Burnhill and D Kemish both from somerset

Champion Puppy was K Allen's "SID" and reserve S Pearce's "DILLY"

champion Terrier was I Church's "BECKY" and M Hulme's "FORREST" as Reserve,

The Countrymans Weekly Champion of Champion's 2012 went to L Clew's "BANNER" and reserve I Church's "TYKE", 3rd M Hulme's "DODGE", 4th A Brewer's "BERTIE"

We raised £53 for the East Midlands Dog Rescue with the charity racing over 2 days thank you,

The coursing crew would like to extend their thanks to all the judges over the weekend for their sterling work. The competitors for their continued support and great sportsmanship, The Countrymans Weekly for their help, hard work and dedication to the lurcher and terrrier fraternity,

Countryman,s fairs set up team for their hard work throughout the year and to the Countryman's fairs for their generosity with trophies, Rosettes,and finalist's goblets

Maggi Orr for all the photography, all crew and helpers for making our lives easier

      QUALIFIERS are available to GB SHOW ORGANISERS for the following CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
                                                     at the IRISH GAME FAIR, Shanes Castle, Antrim on the 29/30 June.
      1. FIVE NATIONS WHIPPET CHAMPIONSHIP
      2. FIVE NATIONS LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIP
      3. FIVE NATIONS TERRIER CHAMPIONSHIPS
      4. MASTER MC GRATH LURCHER CHALLENGE  Two dogs to qualify from each show ( over and under 23")
      5. MICK THE MILLER CHALLENGE for Traditional HAIRY LURCHERS any size. Two to qualify from each show. 
      EACH CHAMPIONSHIP HAS £200 to the Winner £50 to the Runner Up plus other prizes and quality trophies.   As the 31st ANNUAL All Ireland Championships ( Showing & Racing) also take place this weekend ( which are open all ) qualifiers can have a real opportunity to compete for titles and prizes with the best of Irish dogs. 
      To recognise the additional costs of coming to the event for GB qualifiers, they get FREE tickets to the show and special ferry and accommodation rates and each GB qualifying event organiser gets £50 for their best in show winner.

      Show time again folks! 
      Fell and moorland wtc are holding in there summer show again in good old Lancashire. 
      Get yourself and the family down to support this club. All the cash made gose back to the members if they have a dog stuck and need a rescue. 
      All the usual classes for the terriers and the running dogs. Champion bull X  and child handler for the kids! 
      And Anyone wanting to show there Bedlingtons we have a class for them as well. 
      Qualifiers for champion of champions at the Midlands, Pride of the peaks and more! 
      Food and drinks available on site, trade stalls welcome

      The Merseyside Working Terrier & Lurcher Club will be running the lurcher & working terrier show at Peover Hall Sunday 5th August.
      Classes for working terriers, lurchers, whippets and bushing dogs (crossbreds)
