why not just get rid of the racing altogether and the bickering and lies will stop.

Yea I was talkin to matt about it on the sunday an he said he noticed it aswell but as albert said its down to the honesty of the owners if there was no cash involved it would of been a different race an I have nothing to hide what I say on here or in person the 1s who raced on saturday have been doing it as long time an will continue if its not stoped

Flash,

We were criricised on this forum about the prizes for the lurchers and terriers being much poorer than the other sports and so I reacted by bringing them up to a similar level and giving terriers, lurchers and whippets equal status and a similar profile to other sports at our fairs. Believe you me we could have saved several thousands of pounds by not doing this. Unlike other events we put a lot of money back into prizes ourselves as well as seeking good sponsorship.

In my opinion it is not the prize value - do we get cheating in clays, gundogs etc - NO! Because for these sports we operate a formal objection system. I

t is the fact that for some reason terrier & lurcher people seem to prefer to complain after the event NOT at the event. I made it clear before Shanes that we now have an objecton system in place rather like the KC shows- pay a £20 deposit and make your complaint. If it is upheld you get your £20 back and justice is not only done but seen to be done. If the decision goes the other way and it is not upheld then the £20 is donated to a charity of either the objectors or my choice.

This is the system that was in place at Shanes and will be in place at Birr and our 2013 events.

No one made a formal complaint of cheating at Shanes Castle or lodged a deposit so therefore we can assume that there was no cheating only allegations of it. However as the system was new if you genuinely think there was cheating I am happy to take the detail of your objection in writing and hold your £20 deposit until I personally can investigate it.

albert,

my feeling towards the weekend are mixed

the showing was excellent, all 3 judges done an excellent job, and i have not heard anyone complaining over the results...

the racing was up setting to see so many people arguing over the breeding of the winners, and im about fed up of the whole sport...

i know you have been very generious towards the lurcher racing and its appreciated among the followers of the shows...

but i cant help feeling that since the prize money was up for grabs, thats when everyone started falling out and bitching among themselves

im sure most of the lurcher owners dont care about prize money and a nice piece of silver ware and a bag of dog meal would be more appreicated...

IS PRIZE MONEY THE PROBLEM?

I said on another topic that Lurchers were in danger of splitting into three distinct types; "working", "showing" and "racing". This is allready happening. There are pups advertised as from "Show Winning Parents", no mention of work ! On K9 website there was a litter advertised, parents were Whippet/Greyhound X Greyhound, and were advertised as "Perfect for Lurcher Racing " !!!! This has got to be to the detriment of what Lurchers are about; WORKING !! Shows and racing were just something of a get together for people with WORKING dogs in the summer, but now, very, VERY few of these Show/Race dogs will have done a decent day or nights graft.

Cheers.

Id be happy if any of my dogs won anything at a show, dont care about prizes

But a naggin of whisky would be nice or a fancy collar for me dog, I only go to shows to buy a few bits n pieces for me and my mutts and to have a bit of craic... Then to come on here and read all this pathetic bitching.

my last post im not getting dragged into this type of stuff....

why do people get involved in everyone elses lives......if people r into racing sheep dogs [TAT IS THERE THINK]LIVE AND LET LIVE lads....all you see on ere is this should be done tat should be done;;;;if everyone in life went around doing the same think life would be shit.....for people tat has good LURCHERS tat is wat there into they spend lots of time getting them ready for racing and spending money....and the little reward wit the few quid at the end helps jmo...is some people jelous i wonder like i see people saying shows are for dogs tat finish there season hunting. :hmm: ..my brother won the master mg grate and his 3 kids were all there to see the sucess of there dog which is wonderful for any ones child.....tat is wat they r into..people say they dont mind about racing dogs at shows but yet its seems to me after every show people start talking negitive if it does not hurt why come on ere and give out...jmo why dont these people run there shows wit these rules to keep them happy alot of time and efford goes into shows by albert and his team and for this type of stuff every single time to go on after a show albert you must be made of steel man....i will say one think roscre working dos social club are running the racing in birr for those who do not want to stick to the way we run the racing il just let people know the gates in birr swing both ways.....injoy your shows live and let live

Spot on that charti, I wouldn't mind seeing a few turns/bends in the lurcher racing, that would separate them accordingly, watch how many end up turning like a boat to get back on the lure to those that semi expect a little jink and stay nce and tight.

TALLY HO CHRISTMAS DOG SHOW AND RACEDAY SATURDAY 9th DECEMBER 23

At this time every year we all look forward to our Christmas Dog shows and this year was no different. Saturday morning the 9th December 23 had finally arrived and it was time to load up and head for Ballymena to the Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show and Race Day.
As we drove along the motorway, the winds and rain swept us along, and it became  evident  it was time to get the water proofs on. We were living in hope the rain and wind would subside as the day went on, but unfortunately this was not to happen.
But as the old saying goes the show must go on and that it did. In the face of adversity, howling winds and rain, show organiser Peter Morgan being the man he is and a credit to the Country Sports fraternity, battened up the hatches, hammered down the show rings, got the racing under way, and very soon the 2023 Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show had rolled on.
Tally Ho Working Dog Christmas show and Race day is widely acclaimed as being one of the top shows of the year, and again this year it certainly lived up to its name.  Although the weather was inclement and the worst I have seen in the 25 years I have been at dog shows up and down the country. But on the day, this show was not lacking in Christmas cheer.
Hunting men and women and their wee people left the field and their homes behind them to spend a day out at this great annual Christmas Sporting occasion.
This Christmas Dog Show is always a very welcome break from the busy schedules of Christmas shopping, but can also be a very sad and lonesome time, full of memories of yesteryear. This annual doggie day out lifts this mantle, brings cheer in abundance, and helps us to leave our cares behind if only for a day and that brings rewards in itself.
As usual Santa and his Elf stopped off at the Tally Ho Show to pay a visit on his way to the North Pole with lots of goodies for the children. This is always the highlight of the Christmas show. It was heart warming to hear the children singing Jingle Bells, and the happy smiles on those we faces.
Very soon it was Raffle time. The raffle always generates a lot of   excitement. Some great and valuable Christmas prizes, including a Turkey.
Time flies bye so quickly show time had arrived.

Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
A big thank you to Matt Lee/Joanna Relf Lee /Matthew Lee for being so professional with the racing on the day. Your experience and input was invaluable, and of this the Tally Ho team are extremely grateful. Well done by all.
Finally, Finally, despite the bad weather, the craic and the banter around the rings was mighty and a brilliant atmosphere full of Christmas cheer.
None of this would have been possible without the main man at the helm, and brilliant organiser Peter Morgan and helpers Conor Creagh/another young man/ and Caitlin Hughes.
Peter put this show together all by himself and worked tirelessly and gave up his time to make this day so successful and enjoyable for everyone despite the bad weather.
Peter your show was a credit to you and you made everybody so welcome. As usual you have went over and above the call of duty with your Trophies, Rosettes and Prizes. I have heard nothing but praise of your show from everybody that came my way.
I am sure there were many sleepless nights, but again all credit goes to you Peter Morgan. Peter you carried on regardless like a true huntsman despite the terrible weather situation and carried out a very successful Dog Show and Race Day.
Stay safe Peter and may your giving hand never want. And TO all my Sporting friends, God Bless you all, and have a lovely Christmas with your families and I look forward to meeting up with you all again in 2024.
      Margaret Mc Stay
