My Thoughts on Burghley Game Fair

Recommended Posts

Arrived nice and early on the Saturday to security not really knowing what was going on until somebody from Lurcherworld came over and got us let in to the ringside. Half price entrance for me and my old boy Bert, thanks again to Lurcherworld.

Had a walk around the race track and showing rings as the carpark filled up and then went to watch the Pet dog coursing thing in the main arena. I've never seen so many turns in any type of course in my life and i don't think the lure went a full circuit until somebody took half of them out  .

Went down to watch the racing and gave old Bert a go in the timed run against the carrier bag. Did it in about 3 minutes, :toast: but he enjoyed himself. Asked when the showing was starting and was told that it was after the racing and by now there was a lot of people there so thought I'd have a look round the show.

Pleasantly surprised to see plenty of variety and a lot of "Country" type stuff even if the Double Galzing and Car salesmen were still around.

I walked around for about 3 hours before deciding to have something to eat. So glad I took my own sandwiches. The price of food and drink was ridiculously out of my league.

Got back to the showing rings and it looked like it hadn't long started and spent the rest of the day in the sun watching some cracking dogs strut their stuff. I was surprised to see a young lad doing some of the judging but agreed with the vast majority of his decisions and it's nice to see the youth getting in amongst it.

Good to see Terriers back on the program as well and really enjoyed the inevitable dust ups.

On the whole I thought it was a good show with my only disappointment being the lack of a veterans showing class which my Bert would have won hands down :whistling:

Forgot to say, picked up a leaflet for a show in Earls Barton19th & 20th May and half price entry with the leaflet. Bargain.
